TF2Tags Lore Wikia

M3Lucas (short for Mother3Lucas; usually just called Lucas) is a Generation 1 tagger active mostly in the latter half of 2015. Known mostly for his tongue-in-cheek tags about TF2's cartoon logic and tendency to spam, Lucas was quite a decent fellow to be around.

History[]

M3Lucas joined TF2Tags in June of 2015 after watching a video by ArraySeven. His first five tags have long since been deleted, but his earliest surviving submission is dated at June 9th. Since Lucas had a habit of deleting negative-scoring and underperforming tags, it is unknown how much of his first tags have been deleted, but following his June 9th tag his next earliest surviving tag was dated on the 18th, where his activity would start to pick up. He would tag throughout the rest of June, making his distaste for his own bad submissions clear quite quickly.

In July, Lucas made several tags relating to the recently-released Gun Mettle Update, commenting on the addition of things such as a Heavy taunt and the Kazotsky Kick (and the predicted death of the Conga), reminding himself to check the update before going on to TF2Tags, and pining for all the new items that he will never have. On July 8th, Lucas would hit his 500-crit milestone after a month of tagging. Four days later, he would post his hundredth tag. Despite being on the site for only a month and some change, Lucas quickly gained a reputation for spamming submissions in a manner similar to Legownz.

Later in July, Lucas would start trying to interact more with the community, posting a tag on the 19th asking for a list of forgotten taggers, which was not responded to at all, really. The following day, Lucas (who was on a Professor Layton craze) made three different sets of puzzles for the taggers to solve. The puzzles, unfortunately, were quite easy. The next day, Lucas reached his 1000-cirt milestone, meaning he impressively attained 500 more crits in just 13 days. Unfortunately, Lucas made the mistake of making a celebratory tag about it, and Ulysses just couldn't have that, so he missbombed Lucas for 145 points, around as many tags as he had at that point. He would later get accused by Player 1 + Player 2 of self-critting. Crimson Blitz later asked Lucas if he was indeed self-critting, to which Lucas responded "No I just upvote once and that's it". It is unknown if he realized that yes, this was in fact self-critting. It is also unknown if he had always done this or only started in response to the missbomb.

In August, Lucas's crazy amount of activity dipped, and while he continued to visit the site every day, he wouldn't post the 5 or more tags every day like he did before. On August 16th, he would post his first puzzle tag in nearly a month, asking taggers to unscramble the word "SPIEN". Since he only swapped two letters, Danjin pointed out that it was so very obviously "spine", though Lucas also said that "pines" was a correct answer.

That same day, TF2Tags would experience the much-maligned Mobile-Friendly Update. With the update being implemented onto the site, Lucas immediately asked why the hell everything was vertically-oriented and where the miss button went. Dr. Dos commented on this post, claiming the re-orientation was done to avoid having to scroll horizontally on mobile. Clearly, it didn't work as well as intended. Lucas later described the update as "The Anti-AFI Update". With the site going insane, Lucas left for a while and returned later, now that things had largely calmed down, especially due to the promised restoration of misses. Lucas would then team up with Le Tryhard Hunter to report the various bugs that were still plaguing the site following the poorly-named "Mobile-Friendly" update. These bugs included: not being able to see unusual effects, not being able to change item qualities, not being able to check an item in someone's profile without clicking on a "view" button, and page crashes when checking someone's profile, editing the paint on an item, or trying to even attempt to edit the item quality. Dos later fixed these bugs the same day, leading to Lucas rejoicing. On the 18th, as Dos was steadily prepping the site for the restoration of misses, Lucas (with the first ever usage of his representative item) noticed that all points gained from his tags in the past two days were wiped. When the Miss Button was restored, he commented that Bring Back Misses had succeeded in their goal. Not long after, Lucas notified everyone else of the new Vote Log feature Dos implemented to help identify future missbombers, such as the one who soon after targeted Legownz.

A few days later, the site was once again thrown into drama through the Banning of AFI. After CP reported AFI to Dos and got him banned, Lucas was one of many to make memorial tags in the shitposter's honor, stating in his that he could not believe that people found AFI annoying. When CP outed himself as the one responsible for the ban, Lucas decided to step away as he could see the incoming shitstorm surrounding the situation. He celebrated AFI's unbanning and subsequent return, but didn't get involved in any other drama. He disavowed the missbombings of CP in response to the ban, however. Instead, Lucas talked of other things, such as wishing Relk a happy birthday and commenting on an update to the TF2 King of the Hill map Suijin.

The day after the AFI/CP drama ended, L'Étranger would initiate his infamous George Incident, which sparked a sitewide brigade against him that Lucas did not participate in, instead asking why any of it was happening in the first place. He later wished Ulysses a happy birthday. He later made a tag looking forward to his own birthday, as by then he would finally have the funds to get himself some cosmetics other than the Ghostly Gibus. That is, until September 5th, where he accidentally deleted his Gibus.

Lucas continued tagging as normal until September 9th, when the site was once again thrown into drama. This time, it was due to the Banning of Sensible Haircut. Lucas would decide to, like many, leave the site for awhile following the infamous banning, citing his low grades in school and believing the site to be going downhill rather than the ban itself. He declared that he would return. Of course, he never really left at all, as he made one tag each day after this, declaring to be fully back on the 13th of September, now that his Internet had been fixed. On the 16th, Lucas would miss the first ever game of Taggers Against Humanity that Blast hosted. He cursed his time zone, as he really wanted to partake in it. Blast apologized for this.

Starting September 20th, Lucas would come under fire from a few taggers, namely Digi and Bloo Kirby, who criticized Lucas for constantly making tags of mediocre to poor quality. Digi went as far as to call him a trashposter, and Bloo insulted the one and only Mother-related tag Lucas would ever make. Lucas would largely ignore these criticisms and keep posting tags. On September 29th, Lucas would post a two-part smut fanfic about Ulysses copulating with a bucket. This may have led to Ulysses clarifying that he actually doesn't hate buckets anymore, and Lucas made a tag referencing this on October 1st.

On October 7th, Lucas made a tag stating that he should take a short hiatus for school reasons (among others, such as not having any ideas and a lack of recent updates). This hiatus only lasted four days, for he made his next tag on the 11th. On October 16th, Lucas celebrated his 16th birthday on TF2Tags, being met with several well wishes. He wished to get his representative item, the Greased Lightning, as a present.

Lucas's activity would continue for the remainder of October and into November, where he would tag roughly once per day. This lack of major activity had him gloss over the first Taggening on November 12th, though he would acknowledge the second on the 17th, telling Dr. Dos that he fucked up again and making a tag relating to Smash Z's first MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE spree. On the 23rd, he hosted a small little contest to name his Strange Blutsauger. It is unknown who won or what their entry was. In December, Lucas continued his more subdued daily activity, wishing everyone a Happy New Year on the 31st, as he was one of the first to enter 2016 due to his timezone.

At the advent of the New Tagger Riots of January 7th, 2016, Lucas would be on the side of the community at large, being against the massive influx of new taggers Bonkspenser (directly) and Dos (also directly but not immediately apparently) brought to the site. He compared the new people to little kids who think they're awesome but in reality suck something fierce. He was later the first of the many taggers who made a set instructing the new taggers on how to succeed on the site, in hopes of correcting their horrible habits. He was also worried that the new taggers would attempt to get AFI banned once again for being unfamiliar with his schtick on the site. Thankfully, this did not happen. A few days later, following the Great Comment Crash, Lucas commented on the newly-implemented feature of comments counting towards the daily submission limits, stating that it made sense considering people made more comments than tags anyway.

On January 26th, Lucas accidentally discovered a glitch that allowed a user to appear as if they were logged in as the Anonymous account. After finding this out and repeating it, he made a post showcasing the stats of the Anonymous account at that time: 89368 points, 13558 submissions, and a submission limit of 32767. Relk questioned if these stats were real, and Lucas confirmed it by making another tag instructing taggers on how to use the glitch.

On January 28th, Lucas made a set stating that he had changed his mind regarding the presence of new taggers. He admitted that people were largely terrible when they first arrive, but that they will eventually learn from their mistakes and help the site and the community grow because of it. The comments of this tag contained a small vent from future Generation 5 tagger HUMÆN (then known as Shit Poster), who complained about the Gen 1 and Gen 2 taggers constantly insulting him whenever he posted a tag, especially since English wasn't his first language, something Lucas could relate to. In the same comment section, some like Makin' Bacon and TGRobert admitted that they too were bad when they started, proving Lucas's point.

Lucas's activity began to lessen even more once February hit, posting one every few days or so and not interacting with the community much until the Attack of the Clones, where he made a tag about the "damn imposters". He didn't say anything else regarding the clones or the subsequent aftermath. On March 13th, he would belatedly celebrate the end of the Colorless Times, making his first unusual tag in months. That same day, he created his own NTF2Tags persona, wanting to get in on the trend and coming April Fools' Week shenanigans. Three days later, he critbombed Acquiesce to Hale's Own as a birthday present, which the veteran tagger was extraordinarily grateful for.

Come April, Lucas would partake in his only April Fools' Week, making a good amount of tags over seven days. Following the week's conclusion, however, he would tag only twice more through the month. At this point, his tagging activity would drop from "once every few days" to "once a month". He made only one tag in May 2016 and only one in June, the latter of which was celebrating his one year anniversary on the site and claiming to return in 2017. He made a couple of tags in July before taking a two-month leave from the site entirely, returning to post a few tags in October. He would then be gone for almost three more months, returning to post a single tag in February 2017. He would stay for a little over a week, getting greeted by some old acquaintances and new Generation 3 arrivals. He would depart, however, on March 13th. He returned that summer to post a couple times in June, and then once in July. His last tag was made on August 3rd, 2017, before leaving the original site for good. He ended his tagging career with nearly 3500 points.

Since the site's closure, Lucas has returned to Tags.tf and its Discord server, though is largely inactive.

Style[]

M3Lucas's style mostly consisted of making fun of TF2 Updates and game's cartoon physics and logic. In the first half of his career, Lucas was infamous for spamming tens of tags in quick succession and deleting those that were not received very positively. He was also apparently a rampant self-critter, which he (perhaps unintentionally) confirmed to Crimson Blitz after being asked. Lucas would also often comment on his own tags, usually as an after-joke. However, he would sometimes also comment on the text limitations of tagging and apologizing in advance for any tags that he believed could be deemed offensive (most of which really weren't).

Ironically, Lucas only ever made one tag related to the Mother series, and it wasn't even in relation to the character Lucas.

Relationships[]

M3Lucas was not close with too many taggers, but there are some notable examples. He was apparently good enough friends with Acquiesce to go out of his way to critbomb him to Hale's Own on the Aussie's 18th birthday. He also had a close friendship with Marmot, as well as Mr. Copycat, though most of this was not displayed on the site itself. Like most, he was also a big fan of A Fucking Idiot. He is also friends with Blast, Egg-Z, Legownz, and Le Tryhard Hunter on Steam.

On the reverse side, he seems to have irked Digi and Bloo Kirby for his tagging style, as both would criticize and insult him and his tags for being "mediocre" (former case) and "trash" (latter case). Instead of engaging them, however, Lucas largely ignored the criticisms, and their anger for him largely dissipated.

Trivia[]

  • Lucas is one of the few taggers without an explicit main class in TF2. Instead, he plays every class rather indiscriminately, though he has his preferred classes like Scout, Pyro, Engineer, and Medic.
  • Lucas once spammed 15 submissions in a row and almost immediately deleted them because they were horrible.
  • Lucas describes TF2Tags as one third social media, one third shitstorms, and one third drama. Hard to argue with him there, honestly.
